PROJECT SUMMARY
Asus came to us with a pitch heard 1000 times- create a scavenger hunt in Google Maps. Having been close to the Maps products as long as we had been, we knew this wasn't tenable. So with some time on our hands, a CD and I sat down to ideate something much more fun. A scavenger hunt in REAL locations - shot in Italy, Japan and India.
Wanda, similar to a popular male character, traveled from scene to scene and dropped artifacts for users to find. The goal was to find Wanda five times per city, and all of the artifacts she dropped. Once all Wandas were found, users were able to upload a poster to the game that then could be found for additional points. The highest scorers won the new phone. There were actually 3 winners (non-bots) that found everything!

JOURNAL & LEARNINGS
This was an incredible project, and I still show it even though it is old. The key here was not to use technology for the sake of technology, it was to meld the right technology with the right idea. Gigapans became popular in the mid-00s and never really found the right application. With Zoom 2 Wanda, we created an addicting scavenger hunt that boasted an average of 1 hour on site per visit.
PRODUCTION NOTE
When production and creative leadership work in lock-step, amazing things can be made with not so enormous budgets.
