PROJECT SUMMARY

A Norwegian company already successful with digitising darts, came to us to give them a hand with shuffleboard.

A Norwegian company already successful with digitising darts, came to us to give them a hand with shuffleboard.

The globally popular, Oche, a entertainment restaurant chain that focused on making darts accessible by digitally guiding users through different games, came to North Kingdom to ideate, design and develop a similar concept but for shuffleboard. A extra special relief to me, the person that sat next to the ping-pong table. I was delighted that my team would be practicing on our shuffleboard prototypes instead…elsewhere in the office.

Our task was first, to get to know the Oche brand experience, so we could ensure that it showed up in all of our thinking. We set forth to conceptualise new games- new ways to play. From there, our task was to design the interfaces to be on brand and keeping players engaged- nearly as the party host. The last step was to build the games in code, integrating Oche's existing platform for camera vision, account creation and ranking.

JOURNAL & LEARNINGS

What held the work together.

What held the work together.

This project was seemingly straightforward to production leadership, so we chose to use it as a training project to get a young fresh producer onboarded. We were maybe too used to working through the 'unknown'. What I personally discovered during this work was that curiosity and the desire to learn all of the ins-and-outs will make a successful producer in projects that are 'always new'. In production leadership, we need to keep inspiring the up and coming producers to learn, learn, learn. Always ask questions because through every 'new' project, you will have learnings to base your production flows from.

PRODUCTION NOTE

It's not only what you ask- it is when and who. Stay curious always, but part of that is knowing when to ask AI, the team, your boss… and how to phrase it in a way to get an insightful answer. As a leader, if a weird question comes in, try to break it down to the core of the issue and maybe answer the question that is intended to be asked and not the literal questions.
